Energy major Total E&P Qatar recently concluded its second session of Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) training, part of its objective to provide its employees with the necessary tools to become more efficient.

The two-day technical training was delivered by an expert from Schlumberger.

ESPs use centrifugal force to lift hydrocarbons to the surface, enabling high flows and enhanced production.

“Trainings are a key focus of our employees’ career development path, and we regularly train all of our employees in the technical fields to help increase their motivation, energy and efficiency,” according to Pierre Leschi, vice president, Al Khalij Asset.

Total has had a continuous presence in Qatar for close to 80 years, and is the only international oil company active in all branches of Qatar’s oil and gas sector, it said. This includes exploration and production, refining and petrochemicals, and the marketing of lubricants.

“This training was very beneficial to me as an engineer and to technicians as well, because it gives you the confidence to operate ESP systems more efficiently,” said Maha al-Khulaifi, who works at Total’s Geosciences department.
