HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada formally inaugurated the SPE Middle East Health, Safety, Environment & Sustainable Development Conference & Exhibition (MEHSE) at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) yesterday.

The three-day industry event organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is supported by QP as the host organisation.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by many senior QP officials, the top management of oil and gas companies operating in Qatar, as well as conference delegates consisting of HSE experts and industry professionals from all over the Middle East region.

Held under the patronage of al-Sada, MEHSE 2014 focuses on a comprehensive range of topics related to health, safety and environmental issues, social responsibility and sustainable development.

QP has a strong presence in MEHSE 2014 in line with its commitment to effectively address all HSE issues related to its operations as well as to continuously improve the sustainability performance of Qatar’s oil and gas industry.

Many QP officials led by Saif Saed al-Naimi, conference chairman and director of QP’s HSE Regulations & Enforcement Directorate, played a key role in the development of the event’s conference programme. Speakers at the event will discuss an extensive range of topics, including oil spill management, effective safety programmes, climate change, water conservation and occupational health management. In addition to its contribution in the conference, QP is also taking part in the exhibition that is being held on the sidelines of the conference.

The QP stand highlights the corporation’s comprehensive operations, including the activities of its Industrial Cities Directorate and the training programs of the Ras Laffan Emergency & Safety College (RLESC).
