The International Chamber of Commerce Qatar Chapter (ICC Qatar) will gather business leaders from across the country during its annual gala dinner on April 16.

“The ICC annual gala dinner is set to become a remarkable new platform for business of Qatar to gather and network. Our international advocacy has already brought us recognition, thanks to the Bali package at WTO (World Trade Organisation), and we are now looking to strengthen our national footprint to shape Qatar’s economy of the future,” said Qatar Chamber as well as ICC Qatar chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani.

The event, which is sponsored by Qatar Development Bank, is being held under the patronage and in the presence of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.

The gala dinner will also showcase ICC Qatar’s achievements in the past years, particularly the success of the World Trade Agenda initiative that resulted in the so-called “Doha Victory” at the WTO’s 9th Ministerial Conference held in Bali, Indonesia from December 3 to 7, 2013.

QDB chief executive officer Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa said: “We are pleased to support the annual gala dinner. Both institutions share the same goals of achieving economic growth, accelerating development, and diversification of economy through activating the role of private sector.”

ICC Qatar general secretary Remy Rowhani said the organisation aims to reflect the economic changes of the past decade in Qatar.

“It is the collective face of business of Qatar on the international stage and as part of the ICC in Paris it works to influence the business policy-making on such forums as the UN, the G20, and the WTO,” he said.

Rowhani added: “As part of our mission to empower business of Qatar, ICC Qatar also provides support and input in the following sectors: banking, trade and investment, environment and energy, corporate responsibility and anti-corruption.”
