The pioneer welfare organisation of Bangladesh expatriates in Doha, the Jalalabad Association recently invited dozens of its executive committee members for an Eid get-together at Shalimar Restaurant. Jalalabad Association President SA Khan along with former president Abdul Sattar and other office bearers participated in the Eid gathering held over lunch.
“The purpose was to celebrate the occasion of Eid together with our community members and the executive committee members. The party was organised in line with our organisation’s yearly tradition of celebrating Eid together,” one of the attendees told Community. He did not want his name to be quoted.
Besides lunch, the participants were also handed out Eid gifts on answering a small quiz. Jalalabad Association cater to the needs of more than 250,000 Bangladeshi expatriates living here in Qatar, employed in different sectors including oil and gas, banking, education, government ministries, skilled and non-skilled labour.  
Among other programmes, the association also provides financial assistance in case of any deaths of Bangladeshi expatriates living here in Qatar. They make arrangements for sending the body back to Bangladesh. Jalalabad Association focuses its work mainly towards the less-advantaged, low-income people and comes forward whenever they need assistance.
