WIN: The Nepalese community football team crushed the Chinese team by 7-2 in the ongoing Inter-Asian Community Football Tournament. The match was held at 8pm at the Technical Ground of the Qatar Football Association over the weekend. Twelve teams are participating in the tournament. The Chinese team was defensive from the start, but Dinesh Rai was able to break through their defences with a goal from a free kick. Suraj scored the second goal with a header. At half time, the score was 3-1. After the half time, Nepal managed to score another four goals, while China could get the ball through the Nepali goalkeeper just once. Nepal has now finished at the top of its group and will play against the top team in Group A, most likely India. The Nepali team had beaten the Indian team in their previous friendly encounter 3-0. “We need to practice hard, and we have to break through India’s defence, whatever their strategy is,” said Sanjeev Ranabhat, president of Nepalese Football Team.           Text and Photo by Usha Wagle Gautam
