ONFQ magazine Prabash Vol.3 was released on the occasion

and various non-resident Nepalese organisations were felicitated

Overseas Nepalese Forum Qatar (ONFQ) recently organised its fourth convention at Holiday Villa Hotel in Muntaza. ONFQ is a sister organisation of Communist Party of Nepal -- Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML). The conference was presided over by ONFQ chairman Dil Kiran Khajum and the chief guest was CPN-UML general secretary Ishwor Pokhrel.

Speaking at the convention, Pokhrel urged various non-resident Nepalese organisations active in Qatar to focus on people-to-people relations. He requested ideology-based non-resident organisations to carry out their political discussions in Kathmandu.

Special guest and central committee member of CPN-UML Surya Thapa said he was interested in welfare activities carried out by these organisations. He appealed to focus on social activities rather than political. He also mentioned that Nepalese migrant labourers are being cheated by Nepalese themselves in most cases.

Acting Nepalese Ambassador to Qatar Ganesh Prasad Dhakal said the embassy is being receptive to solve the problems of Nepalese migrant workers. He also hailed the role of the embassy to focus on bilateral relationship between the two countries and advised all Nepalese to follow the host country’s rules and regulations.

Vice-chairman of Non-resident Nepalese Association (NRNA) T B Karki said that his organisation was taking an initiative to provide jobs to migrant labourers who return to their country after completion of their contracts. NRNA Middle East sub-co-ordinator Purna KC, NRNA adviser Narendra Bhat, NRNA International Coordination Committee (ICC) members Amrit Gurung and Umesh Adhikari, NRNA National Coordination Committee (NCC) chairman Maksud Alam, NRNA former vice- chairman Sagar Nepal, NNF---UAE chairman Prakash Koirala, NNF-Bahrain chairman Durga Giri, NNF-Oman chairman Gagan Karki, Nepalese Public Relations Committee (NPRC) chairman Bimal Subedi, Peoples Progressive Front (PPF) chairman Homnath Sharma, Unity Society chairman Luma Kanta Pun, Press Chautari Nepal secretary Ganesh Pandey and entrepreneur R K Sharma among others were present in the programme.

During the convention, mouthpiece of ONFQ Prabash Vol.3 was released and various non-resident Nepalese forums were felicitated for their respective contribution.

A musical entertainment programme was organised by Peoples’ Music Front (PMF). The performers were Jeetan Bhandari, Iswor Poudel, Parbat Tirpati, Purna Nepal, Hari Pariyar, Bikash Gurung, Santosh Nepali, Padam Pariyar and Khagandra Pariyar.

During a closed session held in Salimar Palace, Najma, ONFQ unanimously elected its new working committee led by Ramhari Gaire. Ganesh Shiva is vice-chairman, Hari Basnet is secretary, Munaf Miya is co-secretary, Gop BK, Balkrishna Bhitrikoti  Ramsagar Mahato Purna Bahadur Nepali, Jeet Bahadur Sharki, Saligram Sharma, Prem Raj Rai, Ramnath Sharma,Nabaraj BK, Jiya Babu Khan, Bikash Pariyar, Laxmi Kisor shrestha, Jahar Singh Lama, Parbat Tirpathi, Bhim Kumar, Lakandi, Subash Karki, Khadak Nepal, Man Bahadur Kunwar, Mahendra Bahadur chanad, Bijaya Bikram Basnet, Tom Parsad Baral, Bishnu Gautamand and Deepak Sapkota are members of the new working committee of ONFQ.

The event was hosted by NNF secretary Chhabilal Puythani and the welcome speech was delivered by vice-chairman Chanak Pokhrel.
