The Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel is welcoming the fall season with a four-day celebration of the world’s largest Volksfest (People’s Fair), the Oktoberfest at Champions Sports Bar & Restaurant that began yesterday.

The hotel is inviting all its patrons to partake in the fun-filled Bavarian celebration until September 28, where German delicacies and live performances by the Tschirgant Duo take centre stage. The conventional two-man band with classical midi file sound has been especially flown in to perform.

Under the motto “warm, witty, cynical, typical, Tyrolean, and full throttle,” the Tschirgant Duo have thrilled audiences internationally with very successful performances in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Japan, Sri Lanka, India, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Accompanying the great music, guests can savour German delicacies like Beef Goulash with Spaetzle, Beef Sausage with Sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and Currywurst with French fries. Guests can also treat their sweet teeth with traditional Apple Strudel served with Rote Gruetze and vanilla ice cream.

“We strive to provide authentic and innovative experiences for our hotel guests and Doha residents who are always looking for new and exciting happenings in Qatar. The Oktoberfest is the world’s largest funfair held annually in Munich, Bavaria (Germany), and being a German national, I find it fantastic that we can share this celebration right here in the heart of Doha,” said Andreas Wissdorf, General Manager of the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel.

The Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year in Germany. Locally, it is often simply called Wiesn, and is an important part of the Bavarian culture, having been first held since October 12, 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
