Huawei has signed as another “keystone participant” in the upcoming 2014 International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Telecom World Conference set to take place in Doha.

The agreement was signed by Ooredoo Qatar CEO Sheikh Saud bin Nasser al-Thani and Ali Shi, president, Huawei (Middle East) at a ceremony held at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

The 2014 International Telecommunications Union Conference will bring together a host of influential leaders and ICT experts from around the world. The event has already attracted a number of high profile exhibitors and promises to be one of the largest and most substantial communication events held in the region this decade.

Huawei, a technology solutions global giant, has products and solutions deployed in more than 140 countries, serving more than one third of the world’s population, and sees its participation as a “key opportunity”.

Sheikh Saud said: “The participation of Huawei, the largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world from China, is a strong indication of the global interest in the upcoming ITU Telecom World event, and another important addition to the global range of partners set to participate.” 

Shi said: “As a company that is dedicated to better connecting the world by improving efficiency and meeting challenges head-on, we look forward to interacting with Ooredoo, our hosts from Qatar, and our counterparts from all over the world at the ITU Telecom World 2014.” The event brings together influential global leaders in ICT from the public and private sectors, for strategic debate, knowledge-sharing, innovation showcasing and networking at the highest level.

Qatar appointed Ooredoo to organise the ITU Telecom World 2014 forum on behalf of the country.
