Qatar Airways will be taking part in the Singapore Airshow for the first time, it was announced yesterday. The airline will have its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on static display for four days from tomorrow at the Changi Exhibition Centre.
This is also the first time that any airline will be showcasing the 787 aircraft at the Singapore Airshow.
“We are delighted and certainly proud to showcase Qatar Airways’ new 787 aircraft in Singapore and offer our guests the opportunity to experience the distinctiveness of our inflight product,” said Qatar Airways CEO Akbar al-Baker.
“Asia is a very important market for Qatar Airways, and there is no better arena in the region than the Singapore Airshow for us to present what we genuinely believe to be the one of the best and most advanced offerings in the air travel market.”
Flying long-haul with Qatar Airways will be significantly improved on the 787 with features such as cleaner cabin air, dimmable windows, and a more spacious seating configuration.
Qatar Airways’ 787 aircraft features 254 seats in a two-class configuration. In Business Class there are 22 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, which convert into fully flat horizontal beds, and a 232 seating capacity in Economy Class in a 3-3-3 layout.
The 787s also features the award-winning iTouch touch control unit, offering access to more than 1,000 movies, programming and audio entertainment options, an iPort, USB port, remote data outlet and luxurious personal cabin storage space - all available to passengers in both Business and Economy classes.
Qatar Airways currently has nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet of aircraft, with 51 more on order. The carrier flies the 787 on many of its routes from Doha, including London, Oslo, Stockholm, Zurich, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Jeddah, Munich, Riyadh, Delhi, Bengaluru, Dubai and Brussels. Last December, Qatar Airways reached a milestone in Singapore having celebrated a decade of operations in the island-state.
The airline currently operates 14 flights each week between Singapore and the airline’s hub in Doha from which it flies to 134 destinations worldwide.
