A high court in Bangladesh yesterday granted Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir bail for six months in a bombing case.

The bench of Justice Borhanuddin and Justice K M Kamrul Kader issued the order yesterday, bdnews24.com reported.

The order would enable the BNP leader, now in Kashimpur jail in Dhaka, to secure release from prison, his lawyers said.

Earlier April 3, Dhaka metropolitan sessions judge Zohurul Haque had denied him bail in the case.

Fakhrul has been accused in the case for inciting bombing a bus on November 30 last year during a blockade called by the BNP.

The BNP leader had earlier secured bail in three other cases.
