Six people were wounded yesterday when a homemade bomb detonated in a southern Philippine city, a military spokesman said.

The blast occurred in front of the city hall of the city of General Santos, 1,050 kilometres south of Manila, said Captain Alberto Caber.

Soldiers and police officers have been dispatched to investigate the bombing, he added.

Separatist rebels and militants have been blamed for past bombings in General Santos, a port city of more than 530,000 people.
