A Philippine manpower agency is continuing to hire Filipino factory workers for deployment in Taiwan, amid the country’s freeze on hiring and tensions.
A local manpower agency continues to hire Filipino factory workers for Taiwan amid tensions between that country and the Philippines.
Kanya International Services Corp (KISC) posted job openings in Taiwan for Filipino males during the Department of Labour and Employment’s Independence Day job fair at the Rizal Park. Asked if they aware of the tensions from the killing of a Taiwanese fisherman by Filipino coast guards last May, Marivic Montales, assistant documentation officer of KISC, said they “have not received any directive to stop hiring.”
“Actually, only the filing of visas has been frozen. But the deployment continues,” said Montales. “There are still some job orders coming,” she added.
Montales said visa applications and processing stopped in mid-May.
“But now, it’s normal. There are some documents added to the requirements like the unified ID,” Montales said.
Eugene Ocampo said he applied for the job in May 8, was put on hold for several days, but will leave for Taiwan this week.
