As the country gears up for celebrating National Day today, a number of organisations and institutions have held events to mark one of the most important days of the year in Qatar.
Various companies and hotels have been arranging special events to mark the occasion, uniting in the sense of charity and fellowship associated with the day.
Qatar’s many hotels have arranged a large selection of events to mark National Day, such as the Ritz-Carlton, which has organised a number of traditional activities to celebrate Qatari culture throughout the day.
Qatargas began its celebrations yesterday by providing support to activities organised by the Al Khor and Al Dhakira Municipality, which will continue today.
Qatargas public relations manager Mansour Rashid al-Naimi presented the company’s sponsorship to director of public affairs at the municipality, Hamad Ali al-Maraikhi, stating: “Qatargas is pleased to lend its support to Al Khor and Al Dhakhira Municipality, which in co-operation with the Al Khor Community and Qudurat Community Development Centre, is organising a fitting celebration of the state of Qatar’s National Day in Al Khor.”
“This support stems from our corporate citizenship philosophy, whereby we look to create partnerships with the community we operate in. On this great occasion, we are happy to be a partner with the Municipality as well as the community in Al Khor in their festivities thereby contributing to the joy and excitement of the people there,” he added.
Al-Maraikhi noted: “We are thankful to Qatargas for their whole-hearted support and co-operation with the Municipality in organising this celebration, which we all cherish as a matter of national pride.
“We are holding several festivities to mark this occasion including children’s contests, workshops, cultural shows, theatre plays, competitions for women, exhibition and many other events that promote patriotism. Qatargas’ support will go a long way in making this celebration very enjoyable and appealing to the community members.”
Qatargas is also presenting National Day goodies to spectators at the Arab Games, as well as at shopping malls throughout the country.
Standard Chartered Bank held an event at its main branch earlier this week, where a number of schoolchildren performed to make the occasion.
Students from the Ali Bin Abdulla School performed for the bank’s employees, before enjoying a traditional lunch and receiving gifts from the bank’s chief executive, Charles Carlson.
Ezdan Real Estate has also been working alongside the Qatar Centre for Voluntary Activities, with staffers visiting Rumailah hospital to present gifts to patients to mark National Day.
Msheireb Properties has been celebrating the event with employees working on its flagship project, Msheireb Downtown Doha, as well as inviting the community to participate in two social media competitions on the theme of Qatari heritage.
