Various companies, banks, organisations, educational institutions and community forums celebrated the Qatar National Day.Commercialbank joined the celebrations by launching a campaign called ‘everyday inspirational heroes,’ which invited people to nominate their heroes - from nurses, teachers and mothers to charity workers.

The campaign is being promoted through television, radio and in the print media and on Facebook.
Andy Stevens, group CEO of Commercialbank said: “Our unique campaign provides a great opportunity for each member of this country to reflect on the past year and consider who they feel contributes so much to society, they can ask themselves who is their personal everyday hero and then nominate that person for recognition.”
As in the previous years, the Commercialbank Plaza building was used by the National Day Committee to project large-scale celebratory images as well as pictures from children’s drawing competition.

Congratulatory messages also appeared across the Bank’s ATM network, its website, Facebook page as well as in the print media.
In the community, Commercialbank’s staff provided National Day gift bags to children in the Paediatric Ward of the Hamad Medical Corporation, at the Dhriema Orphanage and at the Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs.
Gift bags were also presented to children at the special needs department of Qatar University and children at all independent schools.
Within the Commercialbank’s branch network celebrations took place with walk-in customers receiving sweets and gift bags throughout the few days leading up to Qatar National Day.
The staff of the bank’s Al Rayyan branch invited famous Qatari singer Mansour al-Mohannadi on Thursday to sing the national anthem to mark the occasion.

He added that National Day was one of those occasions when both Qataris and expatriates come together to celebrate what it means to live in Qatar, while thanking the visionary leaders of both modern and old Qatar.
Qatalum’s celebrations were held at the company’s headquarters in Mesaieed Industrial City under the theme “The Splendid Nation is Proud of You.”
Qatalum’s team of officials and employees, both Qataris and other nationalities, participated in the National Day celebrations.
Khalid Mohamed Laram, Qatalum’s deputy CEO, said: “We would like to commemorate the country’s big achievements in various domains which have positively reflected on the Qatari people and people from various countries across the globe.”
The celebratory event included a number of activities and programmes which showcased Qatar’s cultures and traditions, including the heritage tent, traditional food, Qatari coffee, Henna and falcon.
Regency Travel and Tours management and its team of 350 employees, wearing Qatar National Day pins and holding aloft Qatar flags, gathered at the headquarters to celebrate the occasion.
The event was led by Tareq Abdullatif Taha, CEO, and N M Shafiq, general manager. Tareq said the celebration is an important occasion for all residents and organisations in Qatar.
“The growth of tourism in Qatar is the result of the vision and support of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and HH the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad al-Thani,” he added.
Qatargas supported Qatar’s National Day celebrations in Al Khor, organised by the Al Khor and Al Dhakhira Municipality over the past two days.
Mansour Rashid al-Naimi, public relations manager of Qatargas, presented a cheque to Hamad Ali al-Muraikhi, director of public affairs at Al Khor and Al Dhakhira Municipality.
“Qatargas is pleased to lend its support to Al Khor and Al Dhakhira Municipality, which in co-operation with the Al Khor Community and Qudurat Community Development Centre organised a fitting celebration of Qatar’s National Day in Al Khor,” al-Naimi said.
While expressing the gratitude of Al Khor and Al Dhakhira Municipality to Qatargas, al-Muraikhi said that a number of events, including children’s contests, workshops, cultural shows, theatre plays, competitions for women and exhibition were held.
Qatargas also distributed special National Day goodies including flags, shawls and other memorabilia to Qatargas employees and spectators of the ongoing Arab Games Doha 2011 and visitors of several shopping malls in Doha.
The National Day Cars decoration contest in Hyatt Plaza attracted more than 20 well-themed and uniquely decorated cars, including some from the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
Faisal Rashid Ali from UAE and Mohamed Hamad al-Marri and Jabir al-Marri from Qatar emerged as the final winners.
The three-day celebrations, which started on Thursday, featured several entertainment programmes, contests and gifts while giving a glimpse of Qatari tradition to the families of Qatar.
The events and activities were organised in co-operation with the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah al-Thani’s Foundation for Humanitarian Services.
Adabisc, one of Qatar’s leading communication groups, announced it was honoured to be a platinum sponsor of the celebrations.

The concept of Qatar National Vision 2030 is now followed by many regional states, Pakistani ambassador Mohamed Sarfraz Khanzada said.
Addressing a large gathering of Pakistani community on the eve of Qatar National Day, he urged his compatriots to work hard in elevating the name of Pakistan.
“Pakistan has been a victim of various allegations and the community members have to erase the negative propaganda through their sincere and hard work,” he said.
The envoy revealed that around 5,000 Afghans have already surrendered their Pakistani passport; some applications are under the scrutiny of the Pakistan embassy.
“We will be able to know the actual strength of Pakistanis in Qatar once we clear such pending cases,” Khanzada said.
The Qatar National Day celebrations were sponsored by Adnan & Sultan Trading Company. Managing director Rashid Butt expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Qatar.
He described the ongoing development in the country as an attractive proposition for the business community.
Guests participated in a traditional dance showing their solidarity towards the host country and its people. The event was conducted by Malik Sarfaraz, a community leader.
Students and faculty at Pakistan Education Centre also celebrated the day with a colourful event on the campus.
