QNA/Doha

In a speech at the inauguration ceremony of the Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab Mosque HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani said:
“We named the mosque after the great reformer and renowned reviver Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab in honour of the Muslim scholars, who still carry his thought and call for revival to serve Islam and Muslims.
“His walk all through life in the path of light spread throughout the Arabian Peninsula, guides people to the right path according to the Holy Qur’an and Sunnah, removes confusion from the minds and deviations that confounded souls.
“Our grandparent the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani (may Allah have mercy upon him), who was both knowledgeable in religion and a governor, was one of those who adopted the message of Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab and spread it in our country and in the Muslim world as he worked hard to spread the Wahhabi thought books among other books and printed them in India in order to let people know more about Allah’s religion and the message of his Messenger.

“We are still following in the steps of these great grandparents, guided by the Holy Book and the Sunnah (saying and deeds) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and we will not spare any effort to continue to carry the message and spread the tolerant teachings of Islam in the whole world. We can see that Ummah today is in need of rejuvenation and getting inspiration from Wahhabism while keeping pace with the age and its developments.
“I’m honoured along with you to open this mosque and I pray to Almighty Allah to help us now and in the future to keep this mosque a platform to light and a torch of guidance.”
l HH the Emir  hosted a banquet at Al Wajbah Palace in honour of ministers, scholars, sheikhs, judges, and the distinguished guests of the country who attended the opening ceremony of the “Imam Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab” Mosque in Doha. The banquet was also attended by the Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister HE Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor al-Thani.
