The traditional annual Christmas dinner , jointly organised by German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) and German Business Council Qatar (GBCQ) was held at La Cigale Hotel Doha recently.
The dinner was well attended by the German and international business community of Doha. The outstanding business people enjoyed a festive evening with a luscious buffet with German delicacies. The Ambassador of Germany Anne Ruth Herkes was the guest of honour of the evening. In her speech, the Ambassador underlined that relations between Germany and the State of Qatar have been thriving and that Qatar has become an exceptionally important partner of Germany in the Mena region in recent years. Peter G?pfrich, delegate of German Industry and Commerce for the lower Gulf Region, and Wolfgang Muth, chairman of the Board of German Business Council Qatar both emphasised that Germany is looking forward to being a partner of Qatar and to share its ambitions and quest for highest quality and sustainability. Additionally, they addressed their thanks towards the Diamond sponsor of the evening, IBQ, represented by George Nasra, managing director, and the Platinum sponsor, Zueblin, represented by Dirk Poetzsch, general manager.
Apart from a performance of the Doha Baroque Ensemble, the highlight of the evening was a raffle draw with various exclusive prices. Pupils of the German School Doha were selling the raffle tickets among the guests. The proceeds of this raffle were donated by Yasmin Fürstmann, general manager of German Industry and Commerce Office Qatar (AHK) and Wolfgang Muth, chairman of the Board of German Business Council Qatar to Nikolaus Kircher, principal of German School Doha.
