Participating companies in the third Civil Defence Exhibition and Conference (CDEC), to be held on November 12-16 in Doha, have been urged to play a more interactive role in promoting their safety products.
General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) fire prevention department director Brigadier Aman Saad al-Sulaiti stressed the necessity to maintain ‘safety first’ and increase safety awareness in the public mind.
He also stressed the importance of the human factor in the process and indicated that GDCD is very keen on improving the efficiency of Civil Defence to meet the highest international standards.
Media and awareness head Captain Hussain Aman al-Ali called upon companies working in the field of safety and security to make use of the exhibition.
Captain al-Ali pointed out that the process of safety should be comprehensive and complementary, reiterating that all should have their role in the process in an efficient and up to date fashion.  “The issue is not more than just participating in the conference, or to merely win the favour of the GDCD,” he said.
Al-Ali further told companies that “we want Qatar to be a model of safety and security in the world, and you have a major role to attain this on a practical level in the society.”
Brig al-Sulaiti also stressed the importance of media in promoting safety culture and expressed that GDCD is ready to give all facilities within the framework of law to attain a better safe environment that keep pace with the rapid advancements witnessed in the country.
Al-Ali asked the companies working in the field to take part in the conference and prepare attractive marketing plans and packages setting high targets to achieve more recognition.
For example, he suggested that they should offer more promotions, discounts and even make special offers for maintenance contracts on the occasion.
The meeting was also open to questions and inquiries by the companies’ representatives.
Brig al-Sulaiti asked them to submit their suggestions and ideas and told them that GDCD would consider them seriously and work out solutions accordingly, though he stressed that GDCD is a neutral party and would never sacrifice quality in service.
