Marathi director Paresh Mokashi will inaugurate the festival on October 14 at 8pm. Indian embassy deputy chief of mission Sanjiv Kohli and other dignitaries will attend.
Mokashi’s 2009 debut ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’, which won him the best director award at the Pune International Film Festival and many other awards, is the inaugural film.
Selected as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards in the best foreign language film category the same year, the film depicts the struggle of the late Dadasaheb Phalke in making India’s first feature film, ‘Raja Harishchandra’, in 1913.
Nandu Madhav, Vibhavari Deshpande, and Mohit Gokhale are the main actors. Music is by Narendra Bhide, cinematography by Amelendu Choudhary, and editing by Amit Pawar.
Kannada film ‘Gulabi Talkies’ (2008), written and directed by Girish Kasaravalli is to be screened on October 15 at 8.30pm.
Umashree, K G Krishna Murthy, and M D Pallavi are the main actors. The other credits are Vaidehi (story), Isaac Thomas Kottukapally (music), S Ramachandra Aithal (cinematography), and S Manohar and M N Swamy (editing).
Bengali film ‘Kaalpurush (Memories in the Mist)’, written and directed by Buddhadev Dasgupta and released in 2005 is to be screened on October 16 at 8.30pm.
Mithun Chakraborty, Rahul Bose, Sameera Reddy, Sudipta Chakraborty and Laboni Sarkar are the main actors. The other credits are Diswadep Dasgupta (music), Sudeep Chatterjee (cinematography), and Sanjib Datta (editing).
Kaushik Ganguly’s English film ‘Just Another Love Story’ (2010) will be screened on October 17 at 8.30pm. Written by Ganguly and Rituparno Ghosh, the film has the latter as creative director as well as an actor. The other main actors are Indraneil Sengupta, Jisshu Sengupta and Raima Sen.
On October 18, Tamil film ‘Pasanga (Children)’, written and directed by Pandiraj and released in 2009 will be screened at 8.30pm.
Vimal, Vega Tamotia, Jayaprakash, Kishore and Sree Ram are the main actors. Music is by James Vasanthan, cinematography by Prem Kumar, and editing by Yoga Baskar.
Malayalam film ‘Veettilekkulla Vazhi (The Way Home)’, which won the National Award in 2010 for the best feature film in Malayalam will be screened on October 19 at 8.30pm.
Written and directed by Dr Biju, the film has Prithviraj, Master Govardhan, Indrajith, Lakshmipriya and Malavika as the main cast. Music is by Ramesh Narayan, cinematography by M J Radhakrishnan, and editing by Manoj Kannoth.
Three documentaries are also to be screened during the festival. They are ‘Surang’ by Anurag Gowsami, ‘Germ’ by Snehal Nair, and ‘The Postman’ by Manohar.
