Qatari interns Ahmed al-Anqar and Fahad Hiiji
For the first time, two Qatari banking professionals have been given an opportunity to participate in a six-month internship programme in Jersey - a leading offshore financial centre.
Starting this week, interns on the programme will be given a range of work-shadowing opportunities in the Jersey financial services industry.
The offshore centre boasts a 50-year heritage in the finance industry, and is currently ranked as one of the top ten financial centres in the world for wealth management and private banking.
Fahad Hiiji from Commercialbank and Ahmed al-Anqar from Qatar National Bank have been selected by the Qatar Financial Business Academy (QFBA) to participate in the programme.
Hiiji commented: “We are looking forward to spending time in Jersey, where there is a one-stop shop for financial services, not only the banking services, with which we are more familiar, but also funds activity and other finance disciplines; such is the diverse nature of the Jersey financial services industry.”
“It’s ideal that the internship also includes a period in the City of London, adding to our experience and giving us a better appreciation of the commercial relationship between London and Jersey,” he added.
