Qatar will continue its ongoing efforts to become a major business–friendly destination in coming days, Minister of Urban Planning and Municipal Affairs HE Sheikh Abddurrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani has said.
Inaugurating the International Furniture and Design Exhibition and Awards (Infdex 2011) at the Doha Exhibition Center yesterday, he said that the favourable business atmosphere prevailing in the country would help it attract more businesses and top level trading firms in coming years.
The minister said Qatar has been playing host to a number of top quality conferences, exhibitions and higher levels meetings in the last one decade and more of such exhibitions would be held in future.
With so many world-level activities already scheduled to be held in Doha in coming years, the state would not spare any efforts to attract innovative entrepreneurs from different corners of the world, added the minister.
Earlier the minister, accompanied by chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani and other QCCI officials went on a tour of inspection at the exhibition.
Prominent furniture and design companies from different parts of the region are participating in this year’s exhibition.
The organisers claimed over a 100 firms are having pavilions this year and the response has been very encouraging.
Infdex is co-managed by Qatar Expo Event Management and Messe Frankfurt, one of the leading global exhibition management groups.
International Group for Design and Furniture, Colortek, Istikbal, Al-Misnaed Trading and Joinery, Azadea, Al Aqili Furnishings, Skaff, Crea International and E-Sec are the sponsors.
The exhibition will close on October 8.
