HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emiri Diwan, Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, met here yesterday a number of Qatari civil servants who are working at Qatar’s Barzan project on scholarship.
Addressing the civil servants the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the strategic project. He said it was one of the most important projects which aims at supplying the Qatari market with its gas needs. Barzan project will play a key role in maintaining the high rates of Qatar’s economic growth, al-Attiyah said.
The Deputy Prime Minister wished the Qatari workers at the project more success and appreciated their tireless efforts to contribute to the Qatari economy and advised them to work faithfully in the interest of their country.
HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada appreciated  the Qatari civil servants working at the   Barzan project, for which a cornerstone would be laid on November 1.
Highlighting the significance of the project, al-Sada said it would serve the power, water and industries sectors in Qatar .
The Qatari workers in the project expressed their profound thanks and appreciation for the support they receive from Qatari officials and HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and reaffirmed that they would do their best for the welfare of their homeland and help realise Qatar’s future vision.

The meeting was attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister who flew into Tokyo earlier yesterday on a several days’ official visit to Japan. 
 Later, the Deputy Prime attended a dinner banquet hosted in his honour by Japanese company Tsunamachi Mitsui. The banquet was held at the company’s headquarters. 
The function was attended by the delegation accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister .
Earlier, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada signed a protocol of co-operation in chemical fertilizer project between Qatar Petroleum (QP) and the Tsunamachi Mitsui company.
The Deputy Prime Minister also conferred with Japanese Assistant Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Kiyoshi Tsushima on enhancing scopes of joint co-operation, especially in areas relating to transport, tourism and infrastructure .
The two sides also reviewed channels for benefiting from the Japanese expertise and resources in these areas. The meeting was attended by members of the delegation accompanying the Deputy Premier. 
Earlier upon arrival in Tokyo  al-Attiyah and his accompanying delegation were received at Narita International Airport by Qatar’s Ambassador to Japan Yousuf Mohamed Bilal.
