Ashghal employees participating in a heat-stress awareness lecture

In co-ordination with the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), the Quality and Safety Department of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has conducted an awareness talk on heat stress management and guidelines.
Dr Wasif Alam, consultant and acting head of Occupational Health Department at SCH elaborated about the causes and consequences of heat stress, detailing the ways to deal with heat stress and guidelines to prevent the impact of heat, especially during the month of August, when humidity is at the peak. He alerted the participants to be more cautious during this year due to the fall of Ramdan during peak summer.
Officials of the Supreme Health Council who participated in the event stressed the importance of such an awareness lecture within Ashghal premises as the authority’s workers can be frequently exposed to the effects of heat stress. A team of nurses was accompanied by the SCH team to test the sugar and BP of the employees on the sidelines of the event.
