Katara – the Cultural Village will screen the Khoyout Al Sard (Threads of Story) film at the Drama Theatre today at 7pm.
The film tells a story of 12 Palestinian women who were obsessed with their heritage and traditional dress before suffering from the catastrophe and displacement in 1948.
The screening forms part of the Palestinian Embroidery Week, which opened on Tuesday at Katara, led by Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, along with Palestinian ambassador Munir
Ghannam and several diplomats.
The event also witnessed the opening of two exhibitions: the ‘Thahab Al Sabeqin’ by Palestinian artist Zuhaira Zaqtan, which takes place at the Katara hall, and the ‘Palestinian Traditional Costumes’, in co-operation with Al Hanoona Cultural Association.
The exhibition is organised by al Rozana Group, in collaboration with Katara.
The exhibition concludes with a workshop tomorrow at the Katara Art Studios from 12noon to 4pm, aimed at teaching the basics of Palestinian embroidery and stitching techniques.
