Samsung Gulf Electronics (SGE) has unveiled the Galaxy Note 3, the latest version of its path breaking phablet (a smartphone-tablet hybrid) and the Galaxy Gear, the first ever wearable device from the global consumer electronics major.
The Galaxy Note 3 offers a larger and better screen, more powerful multitasking, and significant S Pen improvements, while the Galaxy Gear, which resembles a new-age electronic watch, is a smart companion to the former.
“The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 enables users to tell the stories of their lives through dynamic and seamless expressions of their passions across work, play and life experiences,” Hayssam Yassine, head, Telecommunications Group, SGE, told the launch event in Dubai on Sunday.
The Galaxy Gear, worn on the wrist, has among its features a 1.9-megapixel camera with auto focus. It will notify users and give them quick previews of incoming texts, and emails coming from Galaxy Note 3.
When an incoming message requires more than a quick glance, users can pick up their Samsung Galaxy devices and the Smart Relay feature will instantly reveal the full content on the screen.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with a wider (5.7inch) full HD Super AMOLED high clarity display, slimmer (8.3mm) and lighter (168g) hardware design, and more powerful and longer lasting (3,200mAh) battery.
The phablet is equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera with Smart Stabilisation and high colour rendition index LED flash that enables capturing low light and fast action pictures.
Galaxy Note 3, which offers the latest Long Term Evolution technologies – CAT4 Carrier Aggregation and supports the greatest number of multiple frequencies, has the industry’s largest 3GB RAM for faster and more powerful performance.
The advanced S Pen is designed to be fully functional as a communication driver between the phone and the user. It plays an integral role in how users interface with the device, making all-daily routines easier.
A click of the S Pen button while hovering over the screen introduces users to Air Command, a palette of five features - Action Memo, Scrapbook, Screen Write, S Finder, Pen
Window.
Action Memo can instantly initiate a call, add to contacts, look up an address on a map, search the web, save a task to a to-do list, and more. Scrapbook enables users to organise or track down content and information from various sources including the web, YouTube and Gallery in one place for easy review.
The Screen Write feature captures the full screen image of the current page on the device and allows users to write comments onto the captured image. S Finder allows an expansive search for content through keywords or
filters.
Pen Window allows the use of the S Pen not only for drawing sketches or writing notes, but also for opening a small application window for multitasking experience.
The new S Note, which enables writing, organising, editing and browsing of notes easily with a user-friendly interface and the Easy Chart feature, can also be synced with Evernote or a Samsung account for accessing and viewing from different devices.
My Magazine, developed through a partnership with Flipboard, provides a personalised news, social media, entertainment and in-the-moment
content experience.
With the new Multi Window, Galaxy Note 3 users can toggle seamlessly between applications without closing the window or opening a new page. The Drag and Drop mode allows to drag and drop content such as a text or image from one window to the other.
Pen Window from Air Command further enhances multitasking experience by allowing consumers to draw a window on the screen and launching popular applications while continuing current tasks on the Galaxy Note 3.
The new phablet, which has a premium look and feel, with a soft and textured-touch back cover and delicate stitching, will be available in Jet Black, Classic White and Blush Pink.
The Galaxy Note 3 is available across all major retail stores in Qatar for QR2,799 (3G version) and QR2,999 (4G). The Galaxy Gear is available from QR1,199.
