Umm Salal defender Rami Fayez  is looking forward  to his sides match against Al Arabi in the QSL Match of the Week. The Umm Salal left-back took some time out to talk with QSL online ahead of the crunch match.

What do think of the coming tie against Al Arabi?
It’s definitely a very important match for both sides and is considered a big tie for Umm Salal this season. I consider this game worth 6 points because if we win, Umm Salal will return to the top four places.

What are your expectations for the match?
I expect it to be a tough game for both sides. We have both enjoyed good starts to the season, I think we have the upper hand as we are on a good run of form, and despite drawing our last match we will be looking to win. I think the match may be settled in the final 15 minutes.

What are the weaknesses and strengths of each team?
For Umm Salal I think that we have a fantastic team spirit, and a real willingness to fight for each other. I think you can see that in our late goal against Al Wakrah. As for Al Arabi, I personally think they have a strong attack, particularly on the wings.

What do you think of the professional players within each team? Are they the only source of strength in both teams?
I think that both sides have a balance of professionals who can swing the match in their favour. However both sides have prominent players such as Youssef Ahmed Boualem Khokhi in Al Arabi and Ismail Mohamed and Nasser Khalfan for Umm Salal who can make a big difference to the match.

How do you rate the coaches of both the teams?
I think that both sides have two of the best coaches in the League. They have slightly different styles but I think that Zola has started really well at Al Arabi. Whilst our coach Bulent Uygen  (top) has really laid his mark on Umm Salal and this is shown with the current run of results.

What is your ambitions in general this season and your personal ambition with Umm Salal?
The team’s ambition is to be among the top four teams and compete for either the Qatar Cup or the Emir Cup. Whereas my personal ambition is to reach the highest levels of performance with my team in order to help my teammates reach our goals.

Is Umm Salal capable of returning to the top four teams?
Despite drawing our last two matches, I think that confidence is high in the squad and that the match against Al Arabi has come at a perfect time for us. If we win, we are back in the top four which is the place this club deserves to be in.

What do you think of the Qatar Stars League competition this season?
I think the league has been interesting so far. I don’t think many people would have thought that Al Rayyan would be unbeaten at this stage. Likewise I don’t think many would predict that Qatar Sports Club in the relegation zone. The level of competition is much higher than recent years which can only be a good thing. I am predicting more upsets this season, maybe including Umm Salal in the top 4 places.
