Hamad bin Abdulrahman bin Hamad al-Attiya’s Sejalaat  (Kheleyf - Laqataat) posted a thrilling victory over stable mate Rock Up in the Rowdat Rasheed Cup, a Thoroughbred  Handicap for horses rated 75 to 95, run over 1100 metres, which featured the eight-event card at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club yesterday. The Jassim al-Ghazali trained Sejalaat was ridden by jockey Yanis Aouabed. Alsefra and Northern Water finished third and fourth respectively.
Injaaz Stud’s Kalahari Kingdom was brilliantly ridden by jockey Jean Pierre Guillambert to win the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 50 to 70. Kalahari Kingdom raced upfront till entering the straight and started to improve inside the last 300 metres. The Ghazali trainee then stretched away to win quite comfortably and clinch his first career win in four starts. Makinson Lane and Marked Card finished second and third places respectively.
Mubarak Saeed Aljafai al-Naimi owned My Way put in a gallant display while shedding his maiden status with a fluent victory in the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. Racing a handy third at the turn, jockey Pier Convertino urged My Way into the lead and stretched away to win by six lengths over Katara IV, while Al Naif Never Mind and Gaza VI completed the frame.
Zakhir Stud’s Zameer ran on strongly inside the last 200 metres to win the Pure Arabian Maiden Plate. Zameer in about mid position as they rounded the final turn improved gradually to get into contention. With jockey Gerald Avranche riding out hard, the Mohammed Salama trained Zameer galloped well to surge past front runners and win by two lengths from Al Sardal.
Dr Fahad Bin Abdullah Al Attiyah & Son owned Al Wajeeh was brilliantly ridden by Yanis Aouabed to victory in the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate. The Jassim al-Ghazali trained Al Wajeeh was in a third/fourth position as the field straightened out for the home stretch. Once put into top gear, Al Wajeeh stretched away nicely and won by one and three fourth lengths.
Khalifa bin Sheail al-Kuwari owned Khafouqi (Stephan Ladjadj up) made every post a winning one as he raced away to a start to finish victory in the Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 50 to 80. Though Muhim posed a serious threat in the dying stages of the race, Khafouqi held on gamely to win by a head. Giude Al Khal and AJS Admiral completed the frame.
Mubarak Saeed Aljafai al-Naimi’s Queenie’s Home (Pier Convertino up) scored a convincing victory in the Thoroughbred Handicap for horses rated 50 and below. The Majid Safedeen trained Queenie’s Home was well in touch with the front runners till the bend and started to move up steadily. With about 200 metres left from home, Queenie’s Home took charge and kicked on well till the finish to win in fine fashion.
Hamad Abdulhadi Salah al-Marri owned and trained Mowhoubat Al Zaidy kept aside the challenge of Qaa’ed and Ras Al Qimmah prevailed by a head to win the Pure Arabian Handicap for horses rated 60 and below. Jockey Gaetan Faucon was astride the winner.
