The Doha RFC Ladies Teams, comprising of first squad Oryx and the developmental group Trojans, asserted their increasing regional presence anew with solid performances in the third leg of the Inter-Gulf Ladies Sevens tournament in Dubai.

Going up against women’s tournament leader Dubai Hurricanes in the first match, Doha Oryx went into the game with the intent of honing the team’s skills and giving the opposition a competitive game. And they did.

The Oryx went on to play four more matches over the day and got better with each and every game. Tries were run in by the dynamic duo of Chrissy Foster and Delaney MacNeil with excellent support from Ciara, Anne Marie, Lisa and Aine.

There were some impressive tackles throughout the game with strong hand-offs and great hands throughout. The team’s defense has shown itself to be one of the best in the league, which is helping Doha RFC ladies steadily increase its reputation as one of the teams to be reckoned with in the Gulf region.

Not far behind, are the Trojans which fielded two new players – Jacquie and Nicki – who quickly made their presence felt in the pitch. Jacquie ran in an incredible individual try which was talk of the tournament. Becky and Hannah played in their third tournament and showed such depth of understanding in an extraordinarily short time while veterans Megan, Sue and Jen kept them all driving forward.

Every tournament this developmental team has shown themselves to be strengthening by leaps and bounds. The Trojans are on the road to being the top team in the B league and will continue to build on its strengths while continually making room for improvements.

With its recent successes in the region, Doha RFC remains committed to expanding the game and welcomes all newcomers willing to train and discover an appreciation for and understanding of rugby.
