Qatar was ranked first in the field of protection of consumer rights in the Middle East. This was announced during the fifth Conference of Municipalities and Smart Cities in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC)  in Dubai. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in a statement, said yesterday that the announcement came during the honouring the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute. “The statement referred to the Ministry’s efforts in implementing public policies for consumer protection and progress in the dissemination of consumer awareness about the services and goods by informing consumers about their rights and ways to claim them, as well as the fight against all forms of exploitation by addressing illegal trade practices,” the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) said.
