The third auction for vehicle fancy numbers will be launched in September, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.
Like the previous two editions, the auction will be conducted by the Traffic Department through Metrash 2 . The new numbers will be "even more special" than those offered in the earlier auctions, the daily has learnt from sources.
The second auction was conducted in April, when the Traffic Department offered 24 numbers for bidding. The total amount collected was QR9.928mn. The highest price fetched by a number at the auction was QR936,000, followed by QR802,000 and QR738,000.
To be eligible for participation in the auction, bidders have to deposit a security of QR20,000 and the bidding starts at QR100,000, according to the daily.
