Bulgarian PM sees 2022 leaving a ‘positive legacy’
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has lauded Qatar’s preparations to host the Fifa World Cup in 2022, saying that social welfare plans post-tournament “will leave a positive legacy”. The prime minister made his comments after visiting the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC)  along with seven ministers from the Bulgarian government during  his recent tour of Qatar. The prime minister left Doha on Monday after a three-day official visit to Qatar.Borissov met with SC secretary general Hassan al-Thawadi. The SC officials presented an overview of the preparations for World Cup in Qatar. “I am very impressed by a very well-prepared and ambitious team that is working on the preparations,” Borissov said. “What we were presented were all the preparations for the major infrastructure projects and stadiums, but also for social welfare projects and policy, in order to leave a legacy after the tournament.”

National Day greetings sent
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Yemen President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi on the occasion of his country’s national day anniversary. HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani also sent a cable of congratulations to the president.

Eritrean FM meets Qatar’s envoy
Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh Mohamed met Qatar’s Ambassador to Asmara Mohamed bin Rashid al-Humaidi. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the countries and ways of boosting them.

Minister takes part in WEF in Jordan
HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani attended yesterday, the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa in Amman. The event was held under the slogan, “Creating a Regional Framework for Prosperity and Peace through Public-Private Co-operation.” The minister met on the sidelines of the event with Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab. They discussed scope of co-operation and reviewed projects and initiatives undertaken by the State of Qatar. The minister also met with the President & Head of Ericsson Middle East & East Africa region Rafiah Ibrahim and Secretary General of Emirates Competitiveness Council Abdulla Nasser Lootah, who briefed the minister on their expertise in developing the business environment. The minister also met with a group of Qatari youth who are taking part in the Global Shapers’ initiative and thereafter stressed the ministry’s interest in having Qatari youth participate in economic initiatives and decisions that supports development efforts.
