Qatar-Tunisia civic ties reviewed

HE the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani met the Tunisian Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development Nejib Derouiche in Doha yesterday. They discussed means of enhancing co-operation between Qatar and Tunisia in municipality affairs.

Korean delegation visits Met dept
A high-level delegation from South Korea’s Meteorology Administration, headed by
vice-administrator Jung Hong Sang, held discussions at the Qatar Civil Aviation Meteorology
Department headquarters in Abu Hamour yesterday. The Korean delegation was received by
director of meteorology Ahmed Abdulla. The two sides discussed possibilities of enhancing technical co-operation between both countries in different areas of meteorology. Besides agreeing to share knowledge on meteorological technology and its applications, the officials decided to
explore further possibilities of strengthening the local Met system, improving the operations on dust forecasting and monitoring systems. Possibilities of imparting training and exchange of

Chief of Staff meets French commander

HE the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim met the Chief of Staff of the visiting French Army General Jean-Pierre Bosser in Doha yesterday.  They exchanged views on issues of common interest.

Qatar-Pakistan relations reviewed
Pakistan Army Chief of General Staff Rashid Mahmood met Qatar’s ambassador to Pakistan Saqr bin Mubarak Mohamed Saqr al-Mansouri in Islamabad yesterday. Talks focused on bilateral relations.


Asian expat arrested for using fake credit cards
The Criminal Investigation Department recently arrested an Asian expatriate for fraudulent transactions at several shops using fake credit cards. The investigation officials were tipped off by some sources about the suspect’s involvement in fraud and received reliable information that the person was staying in a city hotel. The officials co-ordinated with the Public Prosecution and arrested him from his accommodation. During the raid, the CID officials found with the accused 15 forged credit cards, three ladies handbags and payment slips. During the interrogation, the accused admitted to misusing of forged cards. He was subsequently transferred to the department concerned for further legal formalities.


GCC food safety in focus at meeting

Hosts Qatar will head in Doha today the second meeting of the
Ministerial Committee for Food Safety in GCC. The executive regulations of the GCC unified food law and other topics are to be discussed.

Emir holds phone talks

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani has held telephone talks with Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov on expanding bilateral ties and other topics of mutual interest.

Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced a free recall campaign of Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured in 2011, due to a defective fuel-pump relay inside the power module. The campaign is conducted in co-operation with United Cars Almana, the
authorised dealer.
