Total has completed the second phase of its road safety campaign in Qatar, which is being carried out in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
The campaign recently took place in Philippine International School Qatar, reaching an additional 800 primary school pupils. With the help of the school teachers, Total conducted three-day sessions to teach children the basic road safety rules and raise their road safety awareness.
For this, a road safety cube containing major international road signs was produced to visually aid the students. In the end, participants received a colouring booklet explaining basic road signs along with a certificate recognising their awareness of basic road safety guidelines.
“This partnership between the Traffic Department and Total is to encourage children of today who will be the drivers of tomorrow, to follow traffic rules and be safe. This, in turn, will lead them to encourage their families to do the same,” said Mariam Norcio-Recalde, who works in the CSR department of Total E&P Qatar.
The first phase of the campaign took place in December 2014 at the Darb Al Saai grounds, reaching more than 10,000 children. “Our aim is to see this initiative grow and expand in the coming years, and help save thousands of lives. For this, we would like to thank the Traffic Department for their constant support and successful partnership,” added Yousef al-Jaber, head of CSR and Institutional Relations at Total E&P Qatar.
