A number of senior Qatari officials and hundreds of Indian community members took part in an environment awareness march organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, to mark Qatar National Environment Day at the Doha Corniche yesterday. Indian Ambassador Sanjiv Arora, ICC president Girish Kumar and visiting Indian academic Prof Dr V N Rajasekharan Pillai led the procession, which started near the Museum of Islamic Art and proceeded to the Oryx statue on the Corniche. Several teachers from Indian schools, representatives of various Indian social and cultural forums and a large number of Indians from different walks of life took part in the procession.
