Vodafone Qatar announced yesterday that the opening of its virtual store, Scan&Go, located at Katara-Cultural Village, has been delayed on account of additional technical testing.
“We shall resume our services there by January 5, 2015,” the company explained in a statement. Vodafone Qatar had announced on Wednesday that the virtual store, at Boulevard 19, located near Katara’s amphitheater area will be available to the public from yesterday.
The Vodafone Scan&Go proof of concept was launched earlier at the ITU Telecom World 2014, where it received wide acclaim and interest from both local and international attendees.
Scan&Go, which now gives Katara visitors a one-of-a-kind shopping experience, is an initiative that underlines the company’s steadfast commitment to innovation and cements its position as an unmatched leader in the field of smart solutions.
The virtual store takes retail convenience to newer heights. Customers only need their smartphones and a QR code reader app to access shopping.
By simply scanning a QR code linked to a Vodafone product, customers can browse at their own convenience, shop at the press of a button, and have their purchases delivered right to their doorstep or made available for pick-up at any Vodafone store.
Through Scan&Go, customers can buy a mobile phone, join Vodafone postpaid and prepaid plans, recharge their prepaid credit, and get mobile Internet and international calling cards, among others. Users can make purchases via credit card through the Vodafone Mobile Shop or pay cash on delivery.
