Qatar Red Crescent (QRC)’s corner at the Doha tent, Darb Al Saai, has received wide response from visitors of all groups and ages coming to celebrate Qatar National Day and enjoy the artistic, cultural, heritage and recreational events there.

The corner features doctors who advise the public about disease prevention and train them in how to administer first aid and peform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

They are helped by a big group of QRC volunteers, who distribute awareness publications and gifts to visitors, particularly children, and inform them about QRC and its role in serving the Qatari society as well as its humanitarian assistance to the needy around the world.

Saleh bin Ali al-Mohannadi, secretary-general of QRC, said: “First of all, I would like to congratulate HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the QRC family and the Qatari people on the occasion of Qatar National Day. May this day come every year with all good and prosperity for our beloved country.

“We at QRC do not miss such opportunities to share with Qatari nationals the national celebrations and keep in touch with all groups (men, women and children) to communicate QRC’s humanitarian message to as many individuals as possible and promote the ideal of benevolence among them.”

Al-Mohannadi commended the efforts exerted by QRC volunteers to establish and run the corner. “Volunteers are the backbone of QRC, which works by them and for them. We are proud of the enthusiasm and spirit shown by our volunteers and their kind and friendly interaction with the public. We have noticed that most of our visitors are children, which would translate into a coming generation of volunteers and reflect positively on the future of volunteerism in Qatar,” he added.

Meanwhile, QRC’s ambulances and staff continue to provide medical coverage in the celebration area throughout the day in co-ordination with the organisers through radio communication to report any case that requires urgent medical intervention, either by providing instant treatment or referring the case to the Hamad Medical Corporation emergency unit.

They will keep working there after the end of celebrations to medically secure workers who will remove the installations and clear the site.
