The Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) has signed a memorandum of agreement with Turkish Airlines, setting the stage for more co-operation to implement multiple future projects of mutual interest.

The agreement incorporates a number of key terms, the most notable of which is a non-exclusive deal related to women’s empowerment and engagement projects, as well as planning and seeking to carry out a wide variety of social projects.

The agreement supports the social strategies of the two parties, with QBWA’s inherent goal to boost women’s economic participation and build a network of relationships and partnerships with major companies and organisations around the world, and Turkish Airlines’ efforts to support projects that ensure more effective participation of women across all economic and commercial sectors.

Through QBWA’s network, Turkish Airlines will also launch special flight offers for women and families and be able to promote Turkish tourism and commercial sectors in general.

“This partnership with Turkish Airlines has a special importance for QBWA and we are delighted to work with a global institution of such magnitude, particularly that it considers CSR as part and parcel of its overall growth strategy. Partnering with Turkish Airlines highlights the fact that a productive common ground to generate both social and commercial gains is always possible and even a necessity in today’s business world,” said Aisha Alfardan, QBWA vice-chairwoman.

“We are highly confident that the agreement will benefit Qatari women and society and are looking forward to working with Turkish Airlines and proving that Qatari women can make the most reliable partners to boost the company’s commercial activities and further expand their social responsibility.”

“As part of Turkish Airlines’ efforts to engage with the local community and facilitate growing business relations between Qatar and Turkey, we are honoured to have partnered with QBWA. Supporting QBWA in its efforts to highlight women’s contribution to Qatar’s economic activity constitutes a real gain both to Qatari women and the society at large,” said Mehmed Kursad Caymaz, general manager of Turkish Airlines, Qatar. “We look forward to hosting members of QBWA in Istanbul.”

To kickstart activities with QBWA, Turkish Airlines will organise a special trip to Istanbul for the associations’ members and support their events and the participation of Turkish Airlines in QBWA’s annual dinner where members will have the opportunity to win flight tickets through a raffle draw.

The agreement also allows the two parties to join forces over several social endeavours in education, women’s empowerment and supporting children with special needs by engineering a scholarship programme for a predefined number of students, taking part in setting up and sponsoring school fundraising events, exchanging invitations to attend conferences and events of mutual interest and identifying other projects with potential social and commercial benefit in general.
