Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels (SWBH) received two top honours at the World Boutique Hotel Awards ceremony held in London recently.

Wile Arumaila Boutique Hotel won The Middle East’s Best Design Boutique Hotel Award for its inspirational design, Al Jasra Boutique Hotel secured The Middle East’s Best Spa Boutique Hotel Award for its super-luxurious Elements Spa.

SWBH won the awards while competing with leading independent hotels from around the world and the best and brightest of the luxury boutique hotel
sector, according to a statement.

Designed and developed by the Private Engineering Office, Arumaila Boutique Hotel blends deep-rooted Qatari heritage with age-old Arabic hospitality traditions.

Reflecting a bygone age with hints of its past glory, Arumaila’s design is contemporary, fitted out with every conceivable modern amenity over three floors. The designer décor creates a world-class ambience with a vibrant atmosphere anticipating every need of discerning 21st-century travellers, the
statement adds.

Taleb al-Henzab, general manager at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, said: “We are delighted to receive these distinguished awards, which reflect the highest standards in the luxury boutique hotel sector all over the world. We pride ourselves on offering our guests nothing less than a priceless experience, so they can enjoy the best possible service to exceed expectations, while staying in the lap of luxury at our hotels.”

The World Boutique Hotel Awards are the only international awards scheme that exclusively recognises the high standards and unique qualities of luxury boutique hotels.  The awards shortlist winners in each category after a personal evaluation by an elite judging team made up of industry experts. Each boutique hotel is judged on every aspect of its operations, including the design and concept, dining, facilities, location, service and customer rapport, as well as the lasting impression it leaves on its guests.

Above all, the judges consider the hotel’s ability to create a unique welcome for its guests through its history, location, culture and stylistic flair.

The 2014 World Boutique Hotel Awards ceremony brought together an array of international boutique hoteliers and industry insiders from all over the world. The keynote speech was delivered by Edward Griffiths, Deputy Master of the Royal Household, Buckingham Palace, and distinguished guest presenters included Professor Peter A Jones, dean at eHotelier Academy.
