Ministry receives 1,600 camping applications

The Ministry of Environment (MoE) website and environment units have received some 1,600 camping applications from Qataris since registration opened on October 14.

Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that citizens who registered at the MoE website to book a camping space received the plate numbers of their camps for  land camps and the co-ordination for marine camps.

Applications for certain locations were closed early because of the high demand and limited spaces. Most of these are located at the eastern coast of the country. Also, some locations at the western coast were closed earlier for the same reasons.

MoE is in charge of a limited number of camping sites, whether marine or land locations. These could not be increased without the prior approval of several entities in the country. Accordingly, applicants can only choose from these available locations. Registration for winter camping would remain open until December 17. The camping season is scheduled to start on October 28.

The environment protection patrols are continuing its campaign in collaboration with the Internal Security Forces (ISF) Lekhwiya to remove unauthorised camping.
