Mesaimeer Medical Commission unit to open next month

A new unit of the Medical Commission will open in Mesaimeer next month, local Arabic daily Al Watan has reported, quoting a senior official.

Medical Commission director Dr Ibrahim al-Shaar said the new unit will cater to 400-500 people a day, which will help ease congestion at the existing Medical Commission facilities, the report states.

The new Medical Commission unit will be operated by Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) under the supervision of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH).

Dr al-Shaar said the opening of new Medical Commission units fell within the SCH’s plan to set up a network of integrated hospitals and health centres to provide healthcare to the expatriate labour force.

The council has signed an agreement with QRC to construct, equip and operate four health centres and two Medical Commission units, according to the report.
