Commercial Bank has announced that 64 students have completed the Young Bankers Summer Internship Programme.

The young trainees, aged between 13 and 18 years, gained the real-life experience of working in a bank and earned their own salary throughout the programme.

The students were first trained in Commercial Bank’s Mobile, Internet and self-service solutions and then placed at one of the bank’s branches.

The students were then tasked with promoting the bank’s alternative banking channels to customers, informing them of ways to conveniently bank without visiting a branch in person.

The Young Bankers internship programme is designed to help students learn new business and communication skills in a customer-facing environment, while under the assistance and guidance of professional Commercial Bank branch staff.

To celebrate the achievements of the Young Bankers, the students received certificates from Commercial Bank CEO Abdulla Saleh al-Raisi, chief human capital officer Sharoq Ibrahim al-Malki and assistant general manager, head of Retail Branches Reham Thawabi at an official ceremony at Commercial Bank Plaza.

Speaking at the ceremony, Young Banker Christina Perera said: “This summer, Commercial Bank offered us the opportunity to do something productive. The Young Bankers internship was a great learning experience. I learnt so much about Internet Banking and banking in general.”

Ayaaz Ahmed, another Young Banker, said: “I would like to thank Commercial Bank for giving me the opportunity to work in a bank. This internship has given me a great insight into how a bank works and functions.”
