Minister meets UN chief's Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict
HE the Minister of State for International Co-operation Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad met yesterday with United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict Vanessa Fraser on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
The meeting discussed bilateral co-operation and ways to support and develop it, particularly in the areas of international and institutional support to enhance the protection of children in areas of armed conflict.
They also discussed protecting education from attacks, global initiatives that have contributed to enrolling millions of children in conflict zones in schools, the provision of humanitarian aid, and the provision of care for unaccompanied children and their reunification with their families.
During the meeting, HE al-Misnad affirmed Qatar's belief that achieving peace is the only way to provide full protection for children affected by wars.
