The College of Nursing at Qatar University (QU) organised the White Coat Ceremony for the Class of 2028, marking the students’ official entry into the field of nursing.This year’s event was the largest in the college’s history, with 79 students donning their white coats, reflecting the growth and success of the nursing programme at the QU, a statement said yesterday.The ceremony was attended by QU officials Dr Mohamed Ahmedna (associate vice-president for Health and Medical Sciences), Dr Majeda El-Banna (dean of the College of Nursing), Dr Issa al-Mansour (assistant dean for Academic Affairs at the College of Nursing) and Dr Noof al-Kuwari (assistant dean for Student Affairs at the College of Nursing), in addition to faculty members and the students’ families.Dr El-Banna explained that the white coat represents the integration of study and practice and stands as a symbol of values such as compassion, honesty, and integrity.Dr al-Mansour emphasised that the students are beginning a professional journey that requires full commitment and the highest standards of professionalism.Dr al-Kuwari stressed that the white coat is not merely a uniform but a message they have carried from the very first day – a message of hope, service, and responsibility.Second-year nursing student Sara Abdullah spoke at the ceremony, sharing her realisation that nursing is not simply a technical profession but a humanitarian mission built on trust, compassion, and respect for human life.The ceremony concluded with the students taking the Professional Commitment and Ethical Oath, reaffirming that nursing is a profession closely tied to conscience and the public good.
