The Ministry of Endowment (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has urged citizens and residents to submit their Haj pilgrimage applications only after obtaining a fitness certificate. Awqaf, in an important advisory issued yesterday explained that obtaining the fit-for-travel certificate is the first and essential step for anyone wishing to register for Haj. The certificate is available at all health centres."No one will be able to register online without this certificate, as it is one of the requirements set by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah,” the ministry said.A physician will conduct the medical examination and enter the results directly into the electronic health system linked to the Haj and Umrah Affairs Department. Awqaf said that these measures are implemented to ensure the safety of pilgrims and to streamline the registration process. The ministry said that the QR10,000 payment made by the pilgrim when selecting a Haj operator through the online system is not a registration fee. "It’s an initial deposit that will be deducted from the total cost of the Haj pilgrimage with the chosen tour operator. This payment serves to ensure the pilgrim's commitment to participating in the pilgrimage. The total cost of Haj varies depending on the level of services offered by each tour operator in terms of accommodation, transportation and meals,” the ministry said.Registration for the Haj pilgrimage season of 1447 AH will open on Oct 1 and will end on Oct 31. The application can be submitted via the official website: (hajj.gov.qa). The quota of pilgrims this year is 4,400, Awqaf added.
