Qatar Charity has launched a campaign in Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania to provide sustainable sources of clean water and saving thousands of families suffering from water scarcity and its repercussions on daily life.In a statement issued Monday, Qatar Charity said that according to United Nations reports, more than 40 million people in these countries face difficulty accessing clean water sources amid recurring droughts and severe climate change. It added that children in water-scarce areas are forced to walk long distances daily to fetch water, causing them to miss school and weakening their educational opportunities. Moreover, hospitals face significant challenges in treating diseases caused by contaminated water, such as cholera and acute diarrhea, illnesses that particularly affect children. The statement pointed out that contaminated water has become the leading cause of high mortality rates among mothers and children in these regions, with many families remaining trapped in a cycle of poverty due to declining agriculture and food insecurity, both directly linked to drought.Qatar Charity emphasized that its campaign goes beyond simply digging wells or distributing water. It involves building a comprehensive system that includes water tanks, distribution networks, and water desalination. Each project implemented in these villages is a step toward restoring life and ensuring human dignity.
