Mohamed Faleh al-Hajri, in charge of managing Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), has stressed that the visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to the Kyrgyz Republic as part of his tour of Central Asian countries would contribute to promoting trade and economic co-operation between the two countries. In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), he said that the Amir's visit comes at a time when there is a growing interest from world countries in strengthening their ties with Central Asian countries, indicating that there are promising opportunities to promote the economic, trade, and investment exchange between Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic. He noted the co-operation between Qatar and the Kyrgyz Republic in civil aviation, which is characterised by their air service agreement, signed in Doha in February 2017, along with other several and memorandums of understanding. The agreement allows airlines to operate any number of flights without restrictions, which contributes to enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation, he added. He stressed that Central Asian countries are essential to the national airline, Qatar Airways, saying that the authority has medium- and long-term plans to operate more direct flights to Central Asian countries, including the Kyrgyz Republic, given its distinguished geographical location, similarly to the existing direct flights between Doha and Almaty in Kazakhstan, and Doha and Tbilisi in Georgia.
