The Ministry of Municipality's health sections across all the municipalities have intensified their inspection and control efforts to ensure the safety of food products on display in the local market and their compliance with the set relevant regulations as part of the preparations for the holy month of Ramadan.At Doha municipality, an inspection and awareness campaign was launched with the participation of 10 teams supervised by Hamad Sultan al-Shahwani, assistant director of the municipal control department and Najlaa al-Hail, head of the health control section.The campaign carried out 5,500 inspection tours that resulted in issuing 179 violation reports according to the stipulations of law no 8 for 1990 on the regulation of human food control.Besides, administrative decisions were issued to shut nine violating food outlets and the amendment of the status of 132 other commercial facilities, in addition to taking 104 randomly selected samples to check the validity of food products.Al Rayyan Municipality has adopted an intensive work plan that included scheduling day and afternoon inspection campaigns at the various commercial outlets and Al Sailiya Central Market. The inspectors will maintain some presence at the central market to monitor its operations.The awareness campaigns will also target the delivery companies to raise their awareness on the best ways to maintain the safety of food items.The health control inspectors at Al Daayen Municipality has carried out a campaign targeting catering kitchens, and food preparation centres with food samples collected for lab tests.Al Shamal Municipality is carrying out a comprehensive food health inspection campaign that targets all the retailers until Ramadan. Al Wakra Municipality conducted an inspection campaign for three days that targeted the major food retailers.The General Cleanliness Department has intensified its cleaning efforts with special focus on mosques, and the roads surrounding and leading to them.In addition, a field work plan has been adopted for cleaning operations during Ramadan, as the field teams will work in three shifts, involving 134 supervisors, 1,795 workers, 701 drivers, and 745 vehicles and equipment.
