HMC leaders laud opening of new Surgical ICU

Officials of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) on Tuesday stressed that the opening of the newly expanded Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) would help deliver the best possible care to patients.

The state-of-the-art SICU offers a higher level of care than a standard ICU, so patients who have had more complex surgeries can receive the highest standard of post-operative care from staff trained in specialist post-surgical care.The SICU also cares for patients with life-threatening conditions as well as severely ill patients requiring frequent monitoring and potential intervention or ventilation.“Our new SICU cares for some of our sickest and most vulnerable patients and the expanded SICU is a key component of our surgical service facility at Hamad General Hospital.
