Abdullah Abdulghani & Bros Co (AAB), the sole agents of Toyotavehicles in Qatar, has unveiled the new 2018 Prado at an event in Doha.Senior officials of AAB, led by CEO R K Murugan, delegates from Toyota Motor Corporation, guests and customers were present.Prado is available and popular in more than 190 countries worldwide dueto its “unrivalled off-road abilities,” earning a rock-solid reputationas one of the world’s toughest and most reliable 4x4s. “The new Pradostrikes a balance between a refined design, both in its exterior andinterior, and superior driving dynamics that bring greater agility andefficiency in driving performance,” said Takayuki Yoshitsugu, chiefrepresentative, Middle East and North Africa Representative Office,Toyota Motor Corporation, citing that GCC countries such as Qatar have aloyal and growing customer base for Toyota vehicles.Designed with a strengthened safety and comfort features, he noted thatthe new model’s latest enhancements “will contribute towards making thenew Prado one of the leading choices amongst families in the region andbeyond.”Yoshitsugu stressed that the Prado has proven its tough, lasting andreliable qualities across different terrains and extreme environmentsover the years. “This new Prado builds on this legacy to exceed theexpectations of our valued customers in the region,” he added.The new Prado is available in a wide range of engine options for bothpetrol and diesel formats. Petrol engines are available with either a V6engine 4.0-litre 24-valve DOHC with dual VVT-I producing 271hp and upto 38.9 kg-m or 4-cylinder 2.7-litre in-line 16-valve DOHC format withVVT-i producing 164hp and up to 25.1 kg-m. Both petrol engines are mated with either a 6-speed ‘Super-IntelligentElectronically’-controlled automatic transmission with multi-modesequential shift mode. This allows the driver to select gears manually,making it ideal for added control in challenging weather conditions, or a5-speed or 6-speed manual transmission. The new Prado offers exceptional levels of safety and security,complemented by the four-wheel car’s new advanced safety technologypackage called Toyota Safety Sense, which includes items that areparticularly effective in reducing the risk of accidents.Some of these systems include the Pre-Crash Safety, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam, and Lane Departure Alert.In addition, the new Prado boasts a multi-terrain Anti-lock BrakingSystem that automatically adapts braking performance to suit the surfaceon which the vehicle is travelling while the Electronic Brake-forceDistribution feature balances braking forces between the front and rearbrakes in accordance with driving conditions and vehicle load.
