Qatar’s first education-specific TEDx event in November

An education-specific TEDx event will take place in Doha in November this year to coincide with the 2017 edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE).Named TEDxAlDafnaED, this is the first education-specific TEDx event to take place in Qatar. The event will be held on November 11 at Katara - the Cultural Village and is open to the public.This will also be one of the local events happening in Qatar in connection with the WISE summit and aims to celebrate education and shed light on the different initiatives taking place in Qatar and internationally. The biennial WISE summit will be held from November 14 to 16.TEDxAlDafnaED is “carefully designed to provide a stage to those who are interested in and dedicated to developing the educational experience in Doha”. In the spirit of TEDx events, TEDxAlDafnaED will feature ideas worth spreading from all over the local community. At the TEDxAlDafnaED conference, the scope of ideas will be focused on education and its reflection on the community. The speakers will discuss several education-related issues, present creative solutions, deliver non-traditional lessons and share thoughts about the future of education.The audience at the event is composed of university students, educators and individuals who show interest in developing and enhancing the educational experience.A team of 20 members led by Mohamed Khader, the organiser of the event, will oversee the whole programme and provide  necessary inputs for the speakers as well as the audience.TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a media organisation that posts talks online for free distribution, under the slogan “ideas worth spreading”. TED was founded in February 1984 as a conference, which has been held annually since 1990.TED’s early emphasis was on technology and design but it has since broadened its focus to include talks on many scientific, cultural and academic topics.TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading”. It supports independent organisers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. The TEDx Programme is designed to help communities, organisations and individuals spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences.
