Dr Aisha al-Kuwari wins Arab Excellence Award for championing responsible media
Rosa Publishing House CEO Dr Aisha Jassim al-Kuwari has been awarded the 2026 Scientific Excellence Award in Socially Responsible Media, recognising her distinguished contributions to media, publishing and the promotion of journalism that advances public awareness, safeguards national identity and serves the wider community.
The honour was presented during the 3rd Arab Forum for Socially Responsible Media 2026 this month, organised by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, where Dr al-Kuwari participated as an invited speaker.
In a post on X following the forum, Dr Al-Kuwari said: "At the invitation of the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, I was delighted to participate in the 3rd Arab Forum for Socially Responsible Media 2026, presenting a paper that addressed the role of responsible media as a tool for strengthening national identity and social cohesion in Gulf societies.
This stems from my belief that conscious media is a partner in creating stability and development, not merely a conduit for events.”
She stressed that responsible media has a pivotal role in shaping public awareness, reinforcing national values and building bridges of dialogue within society, noting that media institutions bear a shared responsibility in supporting development and preserving social stability.
Addressing the forum, Dr al-Kuwari presented a paper on the role of socially responsible media in strengthening national identity and enhancing social cohesion across Gulf societies.
She argued that the media should be viewed not merely as a platform for reporting events but as a strategic partner in promoting stability, supporting sustainable development and fostering an informed society.
Socially responsible media is founded on the principles of ethical and professional journalism that balances freedom of expression with accountability. It seeks to inform accurately, combat misinformation, promote constructive public dialogue, uphold cultural and national values, and contribute positively to sustainable social development.
Receiving the award, Dr al-Kuwari described the recognition as an honour for everyone committed to ethical journalism and purposeful communication.
"I am honoured to receive the 2026 Scientific Excellence Award in the field of responsible media, and I dedicate this honour to everyone who believes that words are a message, and that professional responsibility begins before publication and does not end afterward,” she said.
She added: "I ask God to grant us all success in being part of a media that cultivates awareness, preserves identity, and builds the future.”
The honour recognises Dr al-Kuwari’s sustained efforts in advancing socially responsible media practices and highlighting the role of the press as a catalyst for awareness, national identity and sustainable development across the region.
